Destinations Finland

One of the best place that a person can visit is Lapland. Having a holiday in Lapland is a large region that stretches across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. While these are the technical bounds of the region many people only consider the land in Finland and Sweden as true Lapland. Which means that if you want to visit Lapland then there are only two countries that you can go to. The indigenous Sami people of Lapland live in these areas and are as friendly as they come. They get plenty of visitors every year to Lapland so people can experience their culture for themselves. There is a ton of things to do in Lapland that can keep you happy and occupied for an entire holiday.

Skiing and Snowboarding

This is an activity that you can do in Lapland basically all year long. The arctic circle gets snow all year round. If you go in the winter be mindful that the temperature drops to -45 degrees Celsius regularly. During the winter, northern Lapland can experience up to 51 days of twilight. This can be pretty cool and make for super long skiing or snowboarding sessions.

Northern Lights

The Lapland region is one of the few places where the Northern Lights can be seen from. This is one of the world’s most fascinating natural wonders. The way that the different colors drape across the sky is truly mesmerizing. The blues, greens, purples, and pinks are best seen during the winter. So do your research before heading out to make sure that you will have the best opportunity to see this natural phenomenon.

Sled Ride

This isn’t your typical sleigh ride but a husky sled ride. You can cruise across the landscape of Lapland while being pulled by huskies. This sounds like a childhood dream come true! This exhilarating ride is one that you won’t be sure to find many other places.

Snowmobiling

If you’d rather cruise the landscape by machine opposed to huskies, no worries because there are plenty of snowmobiles that you can find to get your adrenaline pumping.

Ice Fishing

This is a great way to get in touch with nature. Cut a hole in the ice, set a line, and wait for a bite. If you’re lucky maybe you’ll catch enough to feed yourself and whoever you’re with.

Reindeer Sleigh Ride

Another activity that is sure to do nothing but full fill dreams from childhood is go on a reindeer sleigh ride. Hit up Rudolph, Prancer, Dancer, Blitzen, and the rest to pull you along on a nice and relaxing sleigh ride through the wilderness.

Golf

If you’re in Lapland in the warmer months, you can find some wonderful golf courses. You can hit the links at the Tornio Green Zone Golf Course which stretches across both Sweden and Finland. Play in two countries on just one course? Sounds pretty awesome to me.
